Frequently Asked Questions

What is this event?

Why, it's the End of Summer Party, of course! It's actually just a giant outdoor party. We have have an open bar, dinner catered by Mission BBQ, a rotating cast of DJs, cornhole, beer pong, dance games/DDR, and tons more.

How did this start, and why is it called the "End of Summer" party?

The event started in 2014, right before one of the organizers was about to start grad school. He wanted to plan one last event with all his friends before the end of summer break in August. This first year was just a few friends sitting around a fire drinking beer, but it became an annual tradition, growing larger every year.

Why do you do this every year?

Because we love it, and because it brings people together! As organizers, one of our favorite things is inviting our friends from all different walks of life, many of which have never met one another, seeing them meet and have a blast sharing stories, and then seeing them add one another on social media and continue to hang out following the party.

What kind of drinks are available?

We will have a full bar with a varied beer, seltzer, cider, and wine selection. The bar is stocked with mid-to-upper shelf liquor, and there will be a list of specialty drinks as well. The beer selection varies by year, but has historically included selections from Troegs, Dogfish Head, Victory, Ommegang, Yuengling, Wyerbacher, and Southern Tier. We will have something for everyone.

Can I bring my significant other/friend/coworker?

Absolutely! We love meeting new people, so please feel free to bring a crowd! The organizers trust our invitees to bring similarly chill people.

What's on the menu for dinner?

Dinner will be catered by Mission BBQ. The main course will be buffet-style and will feature Pulled Pork, Chopped Brisket, Pulled Chicken, Mac-n-Cheese, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Slider Rolls, Cornbread, and a garden salad, along with your choice of 6 different BBQ sauces. Dinner will be available from 4:30-7:30. There will also be cheese, fruit, and veggie appetizer trays available throughout the party. For the vegetarians out there, the salad, mac-n-cheese, potato salad, cornbread, and all three app trays are vegetarian. The salad and dressing are vegan.

I RSVP'd using the Google Form, but I need to change my response.

If you submitted recently or saved the link, you may be able to edit your response. Otherwise, just submit a new response, we'll figure it out :)

Do I need to contribute anything?

Nope! We appreciate the thoughtfulness, but have a fully stocked and professionally staffed bar and catering line, and don't have the resources to accommodate outside food and drink.

Can I park at the event?

Yes, there is plenty of street parking available and you may leave your vehicle overnight. This is a safe neighborhood on a no-outlet street. Please do not park in or obstruct any driveways, and do not park along other properties. If you would like an escort to your car, please reach out to a staff member.

What COVID-19 precautions have you taken?

All of the organizers and event staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We highly recommend all attendees to be vaccinated as well, but we do not have the resources to require/verify status. This event is held outdoors and provides sufficient airflow and space for those that wish to practice social distancing. Supplies such as cups, plates, and utensils are all single-use and disposable, and all surfaces are cleaned prior to the event. We will provide hand sanitizer at several locations throughout the event.

Is this event 420 friendly?

Yes. Please be respectful of other guests and use the open air section.

Do I have to be over 21 to attend?

Yes. We will check IDs and issue wristbands upon entry. Any exceptions to this policy need to be approved by the organizers ahead of time and circulated to our bartending staff to ensure we do not serve minors.

Do you have bugspray/sunscreen/etc?

We have a table of common items, including insect repellant, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, tide pens, ibuprofen, and sharpie markers for labeling drinks. Please let a staff member know if you need something else and we'll try our best to accommodate.

Is there a cover charge, how much is it, and how can I pay?

Yes, $10. You may pay via Venmo, PayPal, or cash at the door. If paying electronically, please show your transaction at the door. Please note that the cover charge is not negotiable, as the organizers already operate this event at a significant personal loss.

Can I arrive late and how long does the event run?

You can arrive any time you want! Dinner is generally available between 4:30-7:30. The bar will be open full-service until 1am, and beer-only until close (usually around 2-3am).

How many years have you been doing this?

2024 will be the 11th year. We have held this party every year* since 2014.

*We had a small private event in 2020 for obvious reasons.

How do you put this together every year?

It's a grueling amount of work, similar to planning a wedding, but we love doing it. The organizers would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Keystone Pictures for their extremely generous A/V equipment rental, Laura McKee of L.M. Event Services for organizing our professional staff and being a blast to work with, and Laurie & James Frederick for permitting us to use their property for the event.

Who are the organizers?

The organizers are Tyler Frederick, Ryan Heaney, and Brandon Bannister. We are supported by our event staff, Rob Cotter, Stashik Miller, and Bryan LaSala.

I work at SRA or Keystone and I heard about this, am I invited?

Absolutely! We would love it if you came! Please reach out to Tyler or Ryan if you have questions.

What amenities will this party have?

The event is held in a 4,000 sq. ft. covered outdoor space, plus a 400 sq. ft. open air space. The main area features a full bar, DJed music, an 18x18 dance floor, a food serving line, seating for 100, two beer pong tables, two cornhole setups, a 4' connect-four board, two Giant Jenga towers, and an ITG dance game machine with SMX pads. The open air section features comfortable seating situated around a large fire bowl.

What happens if it rains?

The party goes on!! We put up a massive tent, 40' x 100', which covers the entire event. This tent is professionally installed and rated for use in all types of weather. In a thunderstorm, the property is covered in very old, very tall trees which act as natural lightning rods away from the event.

I RSVP'd on the Facebook event, do I need to RSVP here also?

Nope, you're good to go if you RSVP'd on either platform! The Facebook event is mainly a vestige of the early years when most of our invitees were all on a common social media platform.

Will there be bathrooms?

Yes. We have two portable toilets installed for this night only. They are freshly cleaned and stocked prior to the event.

What if I'm driving or need to crash at the event?

Safety is paramount. We will collect keys at the door for anyone driving, and they will be returned at the organizer's discretion (please do not try to fool us, this isn't our first rodeo and we'll make you take a breathalyzer test if you try :) There is plenty of space available to stay over at the house and we encourage you to do so if needed. Please speak to one of the organizers when you arrive to reserve a space.

Are their any rules I should be aware of?

Just a few. Please stay within the confines of the tent and marked outdoor sections, and do not attempt to enter the house, other parts of the property, or other adjoining properties. Do not bring any weapons, including knives of any kind, onto the premises (you may leave these in your car if needed). Please comply with any reasonable requests made by staff members. Finally, and most important, please be respectful of others. This is an inclusive event with a zero-tolerance policy for hate and intolerance. If you fail to abide by the rules above, you will be asked to leave or removed by security.

Can I go in the house?

No. Please do not attempt to enter the house on the property. It is owned by the organizer's family who does not wish to be disturbed. If you are staying over, you will be permitted to enter after 10pm.

Are there any disclaimers?

Yes. This is a private event held on private property, and attendance is at the discretion of the organizers. By attending, you acknowledge that any outdoor event, especially in conjunction with alcohol, presents a risk of injury, and you agree to hold the property owners, organizers, and staff harmless for any that does occur. By attending, you consent to being photographed or recorded on video.

Where is this event held and how do I get there?

The event is held at 1272 Timber Lane, Chalfont, PA, 18914. It is a one-acre property in Bucks County, a Philadelphia suburb. You may drive, take a rideshare, or take the SEPTA regional rail, Lansdale/Doylestown line to the New Britain station, which is about a 5 minute drive away. Once you have turned onto Timber Lane, the event is at the first property on the right after the 4-way intersection. You will be able to see the event from the street.

Is this a family friendly event?

Unfortunately, no. While we don't specifically prohibit bringing children, we don't recommend it. The vibe here is closer to a college house party than a backyard BBQ, and there's a not a lot of activities for kids. In addition, our DJs will occasionally play music with explicit language not suitable for kids.

What if I still have questions?

Please reach out to Tyler or one of the organizers directly. Miscellaneous inquiries can be directed to endofsummerparty [at] gmail [dot] com.
